Split PDFs Without Uploading Your Files

Most online PDF splitting tools require you to upload your documents to a remote server. Your files travel across the internet, sit on someone else's infrastructure, and you have to trust that they're deleted afterward. This tool works differently — everything runs directly in your web browser. Your PDF is processed on your device using JavaScript, and no data is ever sent to a server.

This means faster processing (no upload/download wait), complete privacy (your file stays on your machine), and it works offline once the page has loaded. Whether you're extracting chapters from a textbook, removing pages from a contract, or splitting a scanned batch, your data stays yours.

Five Ways to Split Your PDF

This tool offers five different split modes to cover every use case. Split by Range lets you define custom page ranges — enter "1-3, 4-6, 7-10" and get three separate PDFs. Every N Pages splits your document at regular intervals — set it to 1 to get one PDF per page. Extract Pages lets you click individual pages and extract them into a single PDF. Remove Pages is the inverse — click pages to delete, and keep everything else. And Even/Odd splits your PDF into two files for double-sided scan separation.

How the Split Works

The split process uses pdf-lib, an open-source JavaScript library for PDF manipulation. When you split, the tool reads the PDF structure and copies the selected pages into new documents. The original formatting, fonts, images, and links are preserved exactly. When splitting into multiple files, you can download them individually or as a single ZIP archive.

When to Use a PDF Splitter

  • Extracting chapters or sections — pull specific pages from a textbook, manual, or report to share individually.
  • Removing unwanted pages — delete blank pages, cover sheets, or confidential sections before sharing a document.
  • Splitting scanned batches — when you scan multiple documents into one PDF, split them back into individual files.
  • Preparing submissions — extract specific pages required by an application or form submission.
  • Separating double-sided scans — use even/odd split to separate front and back pages from a duplex scan.
